The title of the work is from Psalm 19, “in the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.” The verse goes on to describe the joy of the rising sun like that of a man on his honeymoon morning, and the setting sun like an athlete finishing their race. In Michigan, this pleasant peninsula enables us to enjoy both the rising and the setting of the sun (in the same day, if we’d like). This work is a celebration of the setting sun, the end of the day, and the beauty of the shore.
